Preventing Winter Damage
With the colder weather, comes the drier air leading to dry brittle hair for many women. To combat the environmental changes I suggest regular deep conditioner treatments in the salon, or at home. Dry and brittle hair can be caused by the environment, over use of cleansing products, product build-up, or mechanical/thermal damage from styling tools. Deep conditioners are right for you if your hair is dry, brittle, tangles or mats easily, is dull or lusterless, dries more quickly than usual, there is breakage at the hairline, or excessive split ends. Deep conditioners work by using a higher concentration of ingredients and proprietary ingredients that open the cuticle to allow penetration of nutrients, fatty acids, and essential oils. Though all products are different they generally improve elasticity, strength, moisture content, shine, and overall health of the hair. Regular use of these products have a cumulative effect on the hair by allowing the hair a chance to heal. They will restore damaged hair with a single use, but the full benefit of the product is achieved with regular use. For normal to dry hair you should deep condition once a week, and for oily hair once a month. Simply apply a generous amount of the product to the hair and comb thru to provide even distribution. Leave in for at least five minutes and rinse for healthy hair!
